‘As you wish,’ you say, rising from the chair. You bid her a good day and go out into the street. You decide to walk back to the Old Swan and you are on your way when you pass the town’s famous Turkish baths. On a whim, you stop in – a nice steam and sweat will clear your mind, ready for another bout of deliberations on the puzzle before you. It’s very quiet today – it’s lucky that they’re even open – and as you slip into the medium-hot bath you’re perfectly alone, which is just what you need when you need to think hard. You close your eyes and let the warm water soak you. It’s intensely relaxing. Right up until the time when you feel two hands clamp down on your head and push you under the surface. You struggle desperately, trying to shake them off, trying to call for help, but a hot torrent enters your throat and all you see is a blur of water as you sink down and down and down.
